Blizzard has begun work on materials for Diablo V: Neil David Carter, the head of cinematics for the series, announced the first filming session on X, posting a photo from the studio with the hashtag #Diablo5.
The post appeared several weeks after the official announcement of the game at BlizzCon 2026.
According to previously published data, Diablo V will continue the story of the fourth installment approximately 100 years after its events. The plot will unfold in Sanctuary after Diablo's victory – in an era described as the 'dawn of the apocalypse.' Instead of a single open world, the developers will allegedly focus on procedurally generated locations and dungeons.
Among the confirmed classes are Demon Hunter and Monk. A new class, Plague Knight, will also appear, specializing in spreading diseases and using them in combat.
The preliminary release year for Diablo V is 2029.
