Call of Duty awaits a major reboot: Modern Warfare 4 will be an epic finale

Activision has admitted that frequent releases of Modern Warfare and Black Ops with only a change of setting no longer satisfy players, and is now looking for fresh ideas for the series.

Activision is preparing big changes for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will be "an epic conclusion" to the current Modern Warfare story. One of the future installments will kick off a brand new sub-series.

Activision's Chief Marketing Officer, Tyler Bahl, stated that releasing new Modern Warfare and Black Ops games in short intervals did not meet community expectations. Players want fresh ideas, and simply changing the setting or historical era is no longer enough.

Activision confirmed that a new sub-series is in development. Its name, setting, and gameplay features have not yet been announced.

According to Bahl, Modern Warfare 4 will conclude the current story, although some characters may return in the future in a new form. The company intends to put an end to the current narrative and make room for new ideas. For fans who have followed the Modern Warfare heroes for years, the upcoming campaign could be particularly important.
