CD Projekt RED revealed new details about Cyberpunk 2 - fans have a reason for optimism

Over 180 people are working on Cyberpunk 2. The game will have a long wait: the studio is focused on the new part of The Witcher, which is expected to be released in 2028.

CD Projekt RED shared details about the development of Cyberpunk 2: the Boston studio's team has grown from 8 to over 180 people, and the project is led by Gabe Amatangelo, who was responsible for the 'Phantom Liberty' expansion and update 2.0 for Cyberpunk 2077.

In an interview on the studio's website, Amatangelo spoke about his approach to creating the game. According to him, the initial concept comes to life through the ideas and involvement of the entire team. He also wants story-driven game worlds to be perceived as true art.

The director encourages employees to ask difficult questions and propose bold ideas. During work on 'Phantom Liberty,' the team even nicknamed one of the checkpoints 'Gabe's Wall' due to constant revisions.

He explains the name Cyberpunk as follows: 'punk' means resistance and questioning everything around, while 'cyber' means exaggeration, neon, and an impersonal world. Thanks to this approach and a cohesive team, the project gradually acquires a unique character.
