The Witcher IV will be released in a boxed edition, but there's an unpleasant nuance

CD Projekt RED intends to release The Witcher IV in a boxed edition, but due to decisions by console manufacturers, it may come without a physical disc.

CD Projekt RED CEO Michał Nowakowski, in an interview, called the new game the most ambitious in the studio's history. The team intends to offer new solutions in storytelling, gameplay, main and side quests.

Nowakowski also confirmed that the company wants to preserve physical editions, although their release depends on console manufacturers and the availability of production facilities.

This does not mean that the studio itself decides to release the game and independently supplies its physical version to the market. If the manufacturer completely closes the possibility of releasing games on physical media, they simply will not exist.

At the same time, CD Projekt RED is ready to sell boxes with codes and thematic souvenirs instead of discs. It is not yet known which option will be chosen for The Witcher IV.
