Battlefield 6's fifth season recently launched, with developers preparing a new battle pass featuring cosmetic content. Players examined the new items, and some details of the outfits caught their attention: one of the soldiers had a strange mask, a spelling error was found in a word, and there was also a specific skin — the character was carrying several identical pistols at once.
Many immediately assumed that these skins were created using artificial intelligence. Battlefield 6 developers reviewed the feedback and decided to respond to the criticism:
Over the past week, we've seen discussions, memes, and candid feedback about some of the new looks and cosmetic items — particularly the McNeil skin with the 'SECUTY' typo. You pointed out the problem — and we heard you.
The fix for the 'Secuty' typo is already in the works and is planned for release in the second phase of Season Five. The creators of Battlefield 6 are now 'revisiting the approach to communicating known visual bugs so that players don't have to guess whether something was intentional or simply went unnoticed.'
They also commented on the Midnight Mirage skin with five pistols. According to them, this is an intentional creative decision — this design is a reference to action movie tropes where operatives 'for some unknown reason have spare weapons attached to every free inch of their gear.'
Battlefield 6 developers thanked the community for their support and acknowledged that 'upon the release of such a skin alongside other anomalies in cosmetic items,' some might have mistakenly thought that the Midnight Mirage design was not intentional.
