Breaking Nintendo Switch 2 will become even scarier: Nintendo will raise repair prices

Nintendo will raise prices for post-warranty repairs of Switch and Switch 2 in Japan starting November 16 due to rising component costs.

Nintendo will raise prices for post-warranty repairs of Switch and Switch 2 in Japan starting November 16: the cost of replacing the motherboard of the new console will increase from approximately $170 to more than $230.

The company attributes the price increase to rising component costs. The tariff increase will affect both the original Switch and its successor.

The amounts indicated are only preliminary estimates. If replacing a part does not fix the malfunction, the repair cost will increase. Restoration can be especially expensive after the console falls, liquid ingress, or an unsuccessful self-disassembly.

For now, new tariffs have only been announced for Japan. Nintendo has not said whether the price increases will affect service centers in Europe and the US.
