Windows 11 became faster in games after the 26H2 update. But not everyone will be lucky

The Windows 11 26H2 update has improved gaming performance, especially in CPU-intensive projects.

Microsoft continues to optimize Windows 11 for gaming: tests of the 26H2 update showed a small performance increase, especially in CPU-intensive projects, and on computers with 8 GB of RAM, the system should run approximately 20% more responsively.

Earlier, Hardware Unboxed found that Windows 11 already significantly outperforms Windows 10 in games. After the release of version 26H2, performance slightly increased even compared to the previous OS version.

However, improvements depend on the specific situation. If the frame rate is limited by the processor, the increase can be noticeable. When the graphics card becomes the bottleneck, significant advantages should not be expected.

Microsoft is also preparing further improvements for games, including an updated Xbox app with an interface reminiscent of the console menu.
