PlayStation abandons discs, while Xbox prepares to "resurrect" physical releases - insider
It seems that PlayStation's competitor will have discs.
This summer, Sony angered many players by announcing the abandonment of PlayStation game discs. Some players are still outraged to this day and, under various company posts and trailers, call for the return of discs.
In late August, Microsoft introduced the Disc-to-Digital program, which allows owners of physical game versions to receive a digital copy at no additional cost. At the time, many players thought that Xbox, following PlayStation, was also completely abandoning discs. However, as blogger eXtas1s explains, people "may have misunderstood [Microsoft's] actions" and the management intends to "resurrect" physical game releases.
His attention was drawn to the Xbox Games Supply Strategist vacancy, which appeared a few days ago. It indicates that Xbox is not yet giving up on discs.
According to the description, the specialist "will coordinate the release of physical copies of Xbox games across all platforms, lead the development of global inventory distribution strategies, and oversee their implementation throughout the product lifecycle."
According to eXtas1s, if Xbox management intended to abandon discs in the foreseeable future, such a vacancy would not have appeared:
