The Sims 2 community has banned vibecoded mods to protect players

Many new mods turned out to be of very questionable quality.

The life simulator The Sims 2 continues to be supported with modifications for many years. However, recently some enthusiasts have started using vibecoding (programming with artificial intelligence) to create mods.

Moderators in The Sims 2 community have decided to ban such modifications:

Vibecoded mods are of low quality and are no longer allowed. Regular publication of such mods will lead to a ban. This also applies to CC (Custom Content) for The Sims 2.

However, they are not against a developer using AI as a tool:

Vibecoded mods and CC are NOT the same as mods developed with AI as an auxiliary tool. The difference is that in the latter case, the developer does the work themselves, using AI as a tool. We will not ban real developers for using AI at certain stages of their work.

Now, members of The Sims 2 community who wish to share large-scale mods that significantly change the game must first apply for 'modder' status:

We require regular modders who do not use [vibecoding] to confirm that they are indeed creating their mods themselves. This is necessary to protect the community.

Projects created using vibecoding may contain various errors, such as memory leaks, which the 'author' cannot fix because they do not understand programming and the generated code. Therefore, such an approach to filtering mods makes a certain sense.
