Red Dead Redemption 2 Adds Shadow of Mordor-Style Nemesis System - NPCs Will Remember Player Actions, Seek Revenge, and Conflict
Misdeeds will have consequences, unless you wear a mask.
Various enthusiasts continue to support Red Dead Redemption 2 with modifications and offer various options to expand gameplay mechanics. Recently, an enthusiast under the nickname nicklovin99 added a nemesis system to the Rockstar Games title, reminiscent of Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor.
Thanks to this mod, explains nicklovin99, every character in the world of Red Dead Redemption 2 will receive a name, personality, and mindset "shaped by the life they lived before your appearance." NPCs will remember the player's actions and may behave differently upon meeting, for example, becoming scared or attempting to kill.
The world of Red Dead Redemption 2 features various bandit groups and the US Army, who go about their business, can conflict with each other, wage war, make peace or break it, commit robberies, and choose new leaders. According to the modder, this will happen regardless of whether the player is observing them or not.
The main character will be able to conduct interrogations to obtain necessary information and find the boss's hideout. Destroying the gang's supplies and personnel will affect its combat effectiveness: if resources are low, weapons will be worse, and it cannot start a war.
nicklovin99 also implemented a system for recognizing the main character's identity: if the player wears a mask, a person who has not seen their face will not be able to hold a grudge against them. For example, relatives of the deceased may try to seek revenge.
The "enRage - Living World and Nemesis System" modification for Red Dead Redemption 2 is distributed for free via Nexus Mods. The modification is in "early access" — the modder is currently collecting information about bugs.
