Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled for release on November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles. The developers have not yet said anything about the PC version, so players hope that tech enthusiasts will come up with something with emulators, native PC launches, or hack the console.
Amid news of older PlayStation 5 firmware being hacked up to version 13.60, reports began to emerge that developers decided to restrict the launch of Grand Theft Auto VI — the game will require firmware version 14.10.00.00 or higher.
Recently, gezine_dev published a video on social media showing a "hack" of the current PlayStation 5 firmware "14.10" — he managed to find a new vulnerability in the security system:
However, it is too early to talk about a full-fledged hack. At the moment, the exploit has managed to remove some restrictions, but gezine_dev could not extract executable files.
gezine_dev and other hackers hope that they will be able to hack the current firmware before the November release of Grand Theft Auto VI. If they can indeed hack firmware 14.10, it will allow them to extract game files from the console's memory so that it will be possible to play on a hacked PlayStation 5.
Recently, unofficial "physical" editions of GTA VI have started appearing on the market.
