Dark Souls II dataminer discovered a large coliseum and an underground level with a tower

Dark Souls II continues to pleasantly surprise players many years after its release. Recently, dataminer Doneda published a video dedicated to exploring unusual locations. He managed to find unused levels in the game files.

It is noteworthy that for his research, Doneda used not the original Dark Souls II, but the more modern Elden Ring Nightreign: he loaded the preserved remnants of the levels into the game and arranged a virtual tour for players.

Doneda managed to find an area with a coliseum, as well as an underground level with a strange 'underground tower'. It is assumed that some of the discovered level fragments could have formed one large location. These places might have been connected to the 'Undead Crypt' location.

This is far from the first time that unused materials have been found in FromSoftware game files. It is possible that in the future some things may appear in other projects in a reworked form. Also, modders may try to 'independently' complete such locations — thanks to the development of AI technologies, the modding direction has strengthened.
