Gears of War: E-Day became the third most popular game on Xbox consoles in North America, surpassing NBA 2K27, Minecraft, and Call of Duty.
According to Circana data published by analyst Matt Piscatella, only Fortnite and Roblox ranked higher. Both games have been attracting huge audiences for years and regularly receive updates.
However, this refers to player activity, not sales. Circana tracks a sample of users from North America, and E-Day's result could have been influenced by its availability on Game Pass.
Other new releases performed more modestly. The critically acclaimed Star Wars: Galactic Racer only ranked 15th on Steam, and on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, it didn't even make it into the top hundred most popular games.
Meanwhile, ARC Raiders returned to the top thanks to the free Frozen Trail update, which once again attracted many players. It is becoming increasingly difficult to break through amidst major game-services. Gears of War: E-Day is currently managing to hold the audience's attention.
