Helldivers 2 again received several thousand negative reviews - update broke popular mod

Custom Galactic War enthusiasts faced problems.

Recently, Arrowhead Game Studios "delighted" Helldivers 2 players with a major update 7.2.0 "Devoid of Liberty". It brought not only various improvements but also a new anti-cheat.

Now, Easy Anti-Cheat is used to protect the cooperative shooter from cheaters. Soon, the game received almost three thousand negative user reviews on Steam. The reason was technical problems (some complained about crashes), as well as the breakage of the popular community modification Custom Galactic War.

The project has been suspended indefinitely. Modders reported that "[Easy Anti-Cheat] has effectively suspended CGW for the time being" — their project does not work with the current version of the game. Currently, the authors are exploring "alternative options" to maintain the mod's availability: for example, supporting only previous versions of the game or creating a new way to bypass EAC after each update.
