The development of DreamWorks Shrek 2 Remastered was recently officially confirmed. Aspyr Media studio is responsible for creating the project.
The developers opened a page on the Steam service and published system requirements that caused many questions among players.
For example, the minimum system requirements included such video card models as: Radeon RX 7600, RX 6700 XT, GeForce RTX 4060, and RTX 3060 Ti.
The remaster's authors recommend players use video cards like Radeon RX 7800 XT, RX 9070, GeForce RTX 4070, or RTX 5070. In addition, in both cases, "16 GB of RAM" was specified.
Now players joke that "games are like onions" — this refers to Shrek's own statement from the original cartoon that ogres are more complex and deeper than they seem at first glance (then the character compared ogres to onions).
Discussion participants do not understand why the remaster requires so much memory (the authors advise using GPUs with 12-16 GB of video memory). West_Island_9777 expressed the opinion that today system requirements mean nothing, since "they are compiled by marketers, not engineers, and, probably, marketers use AI for this". It may turn out at release that the remaster does not need so many PC resources after all.

The remaster will be available not only on PC, but also on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and two generations of Nintendo Switch consoles.
