Nintendo Switch 2 Forces Capcom to Improve PC and PS5 Games

Nintendo Switch 2 is forcing publishers to improve game optimization across all platforms: Capcom has achieved a noticeable performance boost for Dragon's Dogma 2, and now similar changes await Monster Hunter Wilds.

The Xbox Series S is often criticized for its weak hardware, but players have the option to upgrade to the Series X. The Switch 2 doesn't offer such an alternative, forcing publishers to take optimization more seriously.

Capcom has already demonstrated results with Dragon’s Dogma 2, significantly increasing the frame rate in a free update for all platforms. Now, similar progress has been observed in Monster Hunter Wilds: in a demo test, the game runs on Switch 2 at 45 frames/s compared to 25 frames/s on Xbox Series S, and the image looks slightly better.

According to the article's author, it's not just about DLSS: Capcom has optimized CPU load. Monster Hunter Wilds is set to release on Switch 2 on December 4, 2026, and these improvements may extend to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. Producer Genki Sunano previously confirmed that optimization for the new console should also boost performance on other platforms.

The author considers Switch 2 one of the most important events in the gaming industry in recent years: amidst sky-high component prices, smart optimization is more crucial for players than ever.
