It recently became known about the closure of BioWare studio and the cancellation of the new Mass Effect. Project participants cannot yet disclose details, but some have nevertheless spoken out about the unreleased project.
For example, cutscene creator Tony de Waal, who previously helped bring Dragon Age: The Veilguard to release, shared his opinion. He noted that the authors wanted to introduce a new level of freedom of action and choice:
I was lucky enough to be among those at BioWare who started working on the next Mass Effect. I believe we were creating something special: no other game could compare to it in terms of freedom of action and choice. We saw what Larian Studios and CD Projekt offered in their latest games, and we set out to take Mass Effect to a new level while remaining true to the original trilogy.
The developer has not yet provided any specific examples. He is sad that players will not see the new Mass Effect:
I am sad that you will not see what we were working on, and sad for our small, talented team, where everyone did more than seemed possible, to create something special. Please do not forget those who remained at BioWare until the very end. These are some of the most talented people I have ever worked with in my career.
Larian Studios boss Swen Vincke commented on BioWare's closure:
I never thought I would see something like this. Larian and BioWare started their journey in the gaming industry at the same time, and it was BioWare that was at the forefront of making RPGs popular. It's hard to imagine that we are entering an era where the name BioWare will no longer be heard when discussing upcoming RPGs. What a loss for all of us. Thank you for all the games. Thank you for the many hours we spent playing them. Thank you for all the stories. You can be proud of what you have achieved. I hope each of you finds a worthy place for yourselves.
