Recently, those awaiting Half-Life 3 found new hope. A fragment from a Q&A session at the GameSoundCon event went viral in the community. A Valve employee, during a conversation with fans, mentioned the name of a project associated with the third installment of the franchise.
This refers to the so-called project “HLX” — its mention was found in Valve game files. It is believed to be the code name for Half-Life 3. Dataminers have been studying game data for many years, extracting various elements that may indicate potential features of the project. For example, mentions included: a fire and heat conductivity system, an improved gravity gun with advanced physics, as well as sophisticated artificial intelligence and a complex weapon ballistics system.
Now some members of the Half-Life community are eagerly awaiting The Game Awards — there is an opinion that the hypothetical Half-Life 3 might be announced during this event. In general, such “anticipation of an announcement at TGA” happens every year, but due to the direct mention of HLX, the level of “hype” is higher than usual.
