Will Steam Deck 2 Get a Powerful AMD Chip? Leak Reveals First Specs

An unannounced AMD processor based on the Zen 6 architecture, presumably intended for Steam Deck 2, has appeared in benchmarks.

An unannounced AMD processor based on the Zen 6 architecture, presumably intended for the next generation of Steam Deck, has been discovered in benchmarks.

The chip features 6 cores and 12 threads, and during testing, it operated at a frequency of 2.4 GHz. The device was equipped with 24 GB of LPDDR5 RAM with a speed of 9600 MT/s.

For comparison, the current Steam Deck OLED uses its own AMD processor based on the Zen 2 architecture with 4 cores and 8 threads, as well as 16 GB of LPDDR5 at 6400 MT/s.

The transition to Zen 6 and the increase in RAM should significantly boost performance in future games. Valve is already working on a successor to the Steam Deck, although it is not yet known whether the discovered chip is specifically intended for the new console.

If the leak is confirmed, the company will be able to offer a powerful portable system for the next few years.
