Xbox problems hit Microsoft CEO's salary

Weak Xbox results affected Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella's earnings: he will receive $90.6 million, $5.8 million less than a year earlier.

This is stated in the documents prepared for the annual shareholders' meeting. The gaming division was the only one at Microsoft that did not achieve its goals.

The other divisions met or exceeded their plans. The decline in revenue from the gaming sector affected Nadella's variable compensation, including bonuses for achieving targets. At the same time, he remains among the highest-paid executives in the world.

Over the past 12 months, Microsoft shares have risen by approximately 3%, while the S&P 500 index has gained 15%. Stock market indicators do not directly reflect the state of the gaming division, but the difference highlights the company's problems.

The documents also report changes to the board of directors. John Collison, co-founder and head of the Stripe payment platform, will join it. Reid Hoffman, co-founder of LinkedIn, and Disney CFO Hugh Johnston will leave the board after serving since 2017. Shareholders will also be asked to approve the candidacy of former EY head Carmine Di Sibio.

The meeting will take place on December 8, 2026.
