PS5 sales in the US in September 2026 increased by 43% in monetary terms compared to last year, while Xbox Series X/S unit sales fell by 27%, setting a new anti-record for the Xbox ecosystem.
According to Circana, PS5 took first place in the number of consoles sold and revenue. Total American spending on gaming hardware reached $362 million — 12% more than a year earlier, although the number of devices sold decreased by 3%. At the same time, cumulative spending since the beginning of the year is still 9% lower than the figure for the same period in 2025.
Monetary sales of Xbox Series X/S decreased by 2%. According to Circana analyst Matt Piscatella, the Xbox ecosystem showed its worst September result in recorded history, surpassing the previous anti-record of 2025.
Nintendo Switch 2 sales also declined: by 12% in monetary terms and by 14% in units. The situation may change in October and November thanks to the expected release of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake.
