The first-person fantasy RPG Fatekeeper, from the small studio Paraglacial and publisher THQ Nordic, has sold over 500,000 copies on Steam, even though the game is still in early access.
Only 13 developers are working on Fatekeeper. The game offers exploration of ancient civilization ruins, disaster sites, and dangerous corners of a fantasy world, battling monsters, and finding relics, equipment, and spells to develop the character.
The combat system combines melee weapons and magic. Enemies differ in attacks, strengths, and vulnerabilities, so players have to change tactics. You can develop physical strength, speed, and accuracy, or focus on magical abilities.
The world of Fatekeeper features ancient battlefields, underground caves, forests, and ruined sanctuaries. The plot guides the player along a certain path, although locations also encourage independent searching for secrets.
The developers thanked the community for their interest, feedback, and help in developing the game. According to them, player feedback helps improve the project. The success of Fatekeeper shows that even a small team can attract a wide audience of fantasy RPG fans.
