Valve improved Team Fortress 2's zombie mode and fixed a vulnerability that caused server crashes

Developers fixed several issues.

In October, Valve launched the traditional Halloween event in Team Fortress 2. The game added themed maps. On some of them, a zombie mode is available: the system randomly turns several players into zombies, who must infect the human team within a given time to win.

Recently, Valve updated the maps zi_atoll, zi_blazehattan, zi_devastation_final1, zi_murky, zi_sanitarium, and zi_woods and fixed several bugs:

  • Fixed a bug where models became invisible when using DirectX 8.
  • Fixed the display of the 'Healing' ability icon.
  • Fixed incorrect number display in the 'Auto-respawn' text in the spawn point selection menu.

In addition, balance changes were made. For example, the zombie Pyro will deal more melee damage, and the cooldown of the zombie Sniper's 'Spit' has been reduced by several seconds.

Valve also announced that it fixed a bug that caused some maps in Team Fortress 2 to incorrectly track playtime.

A vulnerability was fixed that allowed 'Dragon's Fury' to cause a server crash, and the cp_holyhell map was updated — optimization was improved, and now, five minutes after a team captures the center, the game is no longer considered a 'draw'. Instead, the developers explain, all spells become rare and appear much more frequently. If the point is captured during this period, spells will become normal again.
