In 2017, the game Skylands was released on PC via Steam. It is a survival simulator that supports co-op mode. According to the plot, the protagonist finds themselves on a lost island in the sky: they have to do things typical of the genre — gather resources, fend off threats, explore the world, and obtain food to survive.
The developer stated in the description that it is a “very early build” (there is no “Early Access” tag on the store page) and addressed potential buyers: “If you want to play a completed version, please don’t buy it yet.”
Skylands will apparently never be completed. In October 2026, the developer published a message to players:
After nine years, Skylands will be removed from sale on Steam. The game is no longer in development, so it is time to remove it from the store. If you already own the game, nothing will change for you. It will remain in your library, and you will still be able to download and run it. The game works completely offline and does not require a server connection.
The Skylands page on Steam is available at the following link. The developer did not set a final discount on the game and did not specify exactly when they intend to pull it from sale. The game drops trading cards.
