Will PS6 Warn of Danger with Vibration? Sony Patented New Technology

Sony has patented a system where the gamepad will learn to "hear" in-game sound and proactively warn of danger with vibration and lighting.

Sony has patented a technology for PlayStation that will allow the gamepad to recognize dangerous sounds, warn of threats with vibration and light signals, and even work with older games.

The DualSense controller already allowed players to literally feel raindrops and the tension of a bowstring thanks to haptic feedback. Now, the Japanese company is preparing the next step, which may appear with the release of PS6.

The system will analyze the game's audio track before the sound reaches the speakers, distinguishing background music from important signals: enemy footsteps behind you, a flying projectile, or a sudden noise in a horror game. The gamepad will be able to warn the player in advance, giving extra time to dodge or counterattack.

The patent also describes LEDs around the touchpad that will indicate the direction of the threat, and visual cues on the TV screen.

The main feature of the technology is its operation at the console's operating system level. Thanks to this, new effects can appear even in old games that were not originally designed for such functions.
