Sony allowed re-releasing a 26-year-old “consumer game” on Steam — it is sold in Russia

Players will once again be able to add FANTAVISION 202X to their collections.

This summer, FANTAVISION 202X was pulled from sale on Steam. At that time, the developers from Cosmo Machia studio explained that this was due to the expiration of the licensing agreement with Sony Interactive Entertainment.

However, they recently successfully concluded negotiations, and Sony allowed FANTAVISION 202X to return to sale:

Dear customers! Thank you for your support. We are pleased to announce that our licensing agreement with Sony Interactive Entertainment regarding FANTAVISION 202X has been renewed, just as our fans hoped. In connection with this, sales of the digital version of the game on Steam will resume. We sincerely thank everyone who supported FANTAVISION 202X. We hope you will continue to support our games.

The creators of FANTAVISION 202X recalled that “Fantavision was released as a consumer game in 2000.” It is a puzzle game where players need to connect flying “lights” and detonate them — fireworks will explode on the screen.

The FANTAVISION 202X page on Steam is available at the following link. The project received “positive” reviews from players, holding an 81% rating. Notably, Cosmo Machia is also selling this game in Russia, even though Sony itself stopped distributing its projects in the RF long ago.
