Ubisoft will allow release of fan remaster Dark Messiah of Might & Magic: Community Edition on Steam — project page goes live

The developers will update the classic title and add content that was previously missing from the PC version.

Recently, modders from wiltOS Technologies shared an update on their large-scale project Dark Messiah of Might & Magic: Community Edition. They are developing a remaster of the Arkane Studios game, which has now received a dedicated Steam page.

The creators explained that this version of Dark Messiah of Might & Magic will run on an updated Source engine and will support modern systems:

Hack, slash, and dismember your foes in this legendary RPG rebuilt from the ground up by the community using Valve's latest Source engine. Experience modern Source features such as 64-bit support for Linux and Windows, upgraded rendering with cascaded shadow mapping.

The modders will restore cut content to the game and offer handy features, including gamepad support, achievements, and Steam Workshop modding support. An updated multiplayer mode powered by Steamworks will also be available, alongside maps and modes previously exclusive to consoles.

You can wishlist Dark Messiah of Might & Magic: Community Edition on Steam via the following link. The developers have not yet specified an exact release date, but they outlined a release window of 2026. The mod's page notes that running it will require the original game in your library.
