Baldur's Gate 3 publisher is thrilled with Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

After Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, some had already lost faith in the franchise, but Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare released this year managed to pleasantly surprise many. The campaign received rave reviews — reviews on Steam are “mostly positive”, with a 75% rating after 11 thousand reviews.

Larian Studios publishing director Michael Douse also checked out the new release and decided to share his thoughts on social media. He loved Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare as well:

This game is incredible. Somehow it manages to brilliantly walk a political tightrope: borrowing just enough from reality to feel plausible, but changing details so as not to provoke any real political outrage. Every villain here is constantly doing some ******** cool crazy stuff — and doing it with skill.

The writing, in Michael Douse's opinion, is “good”. He likes how the writers handle the source material, calling it a “rare example of craft”:

The writing really is good. No TV show writer would dare tackle storylines like these. The way the game handles all of it is a rare example of craft. It allows itself far more than television would in similar plots.
