Successor to Need for Speed: Underground gets improved engine and content — new racer is free to play on Steam

The developers decided to expand and refine the Heatwarped demo.

This summer, studio Sealime introduced a PC demo of Heatwarped on Steam. It is an arcade street racer made in the spirit of iconic genre classics Need for Speed: Underground and Midnight Club.

In late October, Sealime returned to the Heatwarped demo and released an update with new content: additional spoilers were added, more car models can now be encountered on the roads, and plenty of bugs were “squashed” (playing on the word bugs, which refers to both software glitches and insects).

Now, the developers report, Heatwarped is supported not only on Windows, but also on the Linux and macOS operating systems. Players can now choose the difficulty at any time in the settings or when creating a profile, with options including “easy”, “normal”, and “hard”. The difficulty setting affects not only the AI racers, but also “traffic density and other factors”. The game engine has been updated to Unity 6.6.
