BioWare was recently shut down and the cancellation of the development of the new Mass Effect was announced, which upset many fans of the franchise. Some are not ready to accept such an outcome and are trying to convince Electronic Arts to continue working on the game.
Community members managed to raise $5,274 in just 15 minutes via GoFundMe. The campaign organizers plan to use these funds to set up billboards calling to save Mass Effect.
For example, materials for this fan campaign are intended to be placed on billboards near the Electronic Arts office, as well as the venue of The Game Awards in December.
Some Mass Effect fans have complaints about the design of the billboards that were previously put up. They do not like that the emphasis is on the franchise, while the materials contain no mention of the closed studio BioWare.
However, it turned out there was a valid reason why the studio was not mentioned. Kala Elizabeth explained that the design had to be changed at the last minute due to copyright law. Because of this law, the Quarian phrase also had to be adjusted:
Such a funny story with the billboard here... Our first design was not approved due to copyright, so we had to rush to make a new one (and I also had to learn how to make animation in 10 minutes). And I wrote “Keelah Si'yah” instead of “Keelah Se'lai”.
