GGG prepares big changes for Path of Exile: the endgame is in for a serious shake-up

Grinding Gear Games is preparing update 3.30 for Path of Exile for November 13, aimed at breaking the endgame out of monotony.

Path of Exile has a chance to relive its golden age: Grinding Gear Games is preparing a major endgame overhaul in update 3.30 and plans to expand the original game’s team after PoE 2 leaves early access.

Update 3.30 will be presented at ExileCon on November 6, 2026, and released on November 13. According to developer Octavian, the changes will affect most league mechanics, giving them new features. The overhaul will touch maps, bosses, and other content.

We plan to touch as many of the existing league mechanics as possible and add something new, interesting, and different to each of them, because one of the problems is that the endgame has simply become repetitive.

Game director Jonathan Rogers also confirmed that once the PoE 2 campaign is completed, some employees will switch over to the sequel’s endgame or the original game. The PoE 1 team is set to grow, allowing for larger updates on a regular basis.

Content creator Dreamcore believes this could return the game to the era of major Atlas expansions, similar to the period of updates 3.10–3.17. He also speculated about the arrival of version 4.0 with WASD controls, although such an update might not arrive until late 2027, if ever released at all.
