Some developers will celebrate the release of GTA VI by voting on a Rockstar Games union

Specialists will have the opportunity to protect their rights.

The release of Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled for November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles. During the game's launch period, Rockstar Games studio employees intend to hold a vote on the official recognition of the studio's union.

The organizers of the vote for the “Rockstar Game Workers Union” recently outlined the dates. It will last two weeks: the start is scheduled for November 12, and the voting will conclude on November 26 of this year. As it turns out, specialists will be able to cast their vote on the 19th—on the day of the GTA VI release.

The announcement notes that this vote will be very important and will allow Rockstar to make industry history twice in one month:

This November, we have a chance to make gaming industry history not once, but twice. While GTA VI players will see the fruits of our labor, craft, and creativity for the first time, our voices as workers will also be heard for the first time.

Over the past months, a series of meetings was held with studio management, negotiating the terms for union recognition. Official recognition will allow developers to collectively bargain over issues such as wage rates, bonus payouts, overtime compensation, layoffs, etc.

Earlier, several employees were laid off: formally, this was linked to leaks, but they claim it was aimed at obstructing union formation.
