Rockstar Games has reportedly watermarked review copies of GTA VI with journalists' names to trace those leaking pre-release materials.
The reviewer's first and last name will supposedly be displayed right on the screen in early builds of the game. This makes it possible to link any published footage directly to a specific journalist or editorial team.
According to insider Jeremy, anyone found guilty of a leak will be permanently banned from receiving early access to future Rockstar titles.
Watermarking early builds is a common method for protecting confidential materials. The studio wants to decide for itself when to reveal new glimpses of Vice City, uncover plot details, and showcase gameplay mechanics.
Rockstar has repeatedly suffered from GTA VI leaks, so it is striving to maintain tight control over information ahead of the release. However, the company itself has not yet officially confirmed this watermarking system.
