Helldivers 2 gives away gifts to celebrate Liberty Day, but a new anti-cheat keeps some fans out of the game

Not everyone was able to add the assault rifle to their collection.

In late October, Helldivers 2 fans celebrate Liberty Day. However, the annual holiday was spoiled for some this time by a recent update. The co-op shooter now uses the Easy Anti-Cheat solution.

Because of it, popular mods have stopped working, and some community members can no longer enter the game. Helldivers 2 is currently running a giveaway, but users like Sad-Needleworker-590 receive a notification when trying to launch the game:

Easy Anti Cheat error. Failed to connect to the Easy Anti Cheat network. Try again later or contact support if the issue persists. Helldivers 2 will now close.

The attempt by the creators of Helldivers 2 to combat cheaters has resulted in innocent players suffering, even those who never used mods for the shooter. Now, community members joke, “Liberty Day means the freedom to play something else, probably.”

The situation with broken mods and other issues related to Easy Anti-Cheat has affected the rating. Helldivers 2 is once again being heavily review-bombed on Steam: disgruntled users are calling on the developers to fix the technical issues.
