The RecompLauncher service collects links to nearly 200 fan ports of console hits, including The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Bloodborne, and God of War 3. It redirects users to project pages on GitHub without distributing game ROM files.
The creators emphasize that the service operates legally: “The ports never contain the game itself. You use your own, legally obtained copy.” Each project requires the original game files.
Nintendo games dominate the most popular ports, with The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time taking first place.
The authors are preparing a standalone RecompLauncher app that will allow users to install, update, and launch ports, as well as prepare game files.
At the same time, open source code does not guarantee safety. Running such projects remains at the user’s own risk.
