The publisher Niza Games has opened pre-orders for “Gaudi”, a Euro-style board game designed for 1–4 players. Currently, this project by game designer Dani Garcia can be purchased for 2,990 rubles.
During the game, participants will learn about the key milestones in the life and creative journey of the Spanish architect Antoni Gaudí. Mechanically, this board game has four distinctive features worth highlighting.
The action rondel is the central mechanic. Players move their piece in a circle and perform actions. The further you go, the more you get per turn. But there is no need to rush: it will simply mean performing fewer actions per turn.
“Gaudi” let's play from the official channel of the publisher Niza Games on VKvideo.ru
Points on three different tracks. At the end of the game, the track where the player has advanced the furthest will score no points. In other words, ideally, all three tracks need to be balanced. The catch is that they are set up differently. The first provides instant points: by playing a card, a player receives all bonuses in the column, including a new card.
The second yields points at the end of the round. The third awards points for objectives at the end of the game. Even if a participant sees a tempting move that will bring a lot of points on a track where they are already ahead, it might be better to gain a little where they are falling behind.
Bonus tracks. In expert mode, each player has their own bonuses around which they can build a strategy, which greatly increases replayability. Trencadís tiles are made using the “broken” mosaic technique from shards of ceramics and glass, typical of Barcelona and Gaudí's style. Here, it is not just a tactile and visual element, but a full-fledged game mechanic.
Tiles are a requirement both for playing point cards (of all three types) and for advancing along bonus tracks. In simple mode, it does not matter how the player places them, while in expert mode, one must hunt not only for a specific color, but also for a specific shape so that the tiles fit together.
The game has already been produced and is currently being assembled at a factory in China alongside the worldwide print run. In November, it will be shipped to Russia. Taking into account possible logistical delays before the New Year, “Gaudi” will most likely arrive at the warehouse in January–February 2027.
