Chucklefish recently reminded players about Witchbrook. The life simulator has been in development for at least around 10 years — the studio first mentioned the project back in 2016.
It was previously expected that the game could be released in 2025, then the release window shifted to 2026, and now the Witchbrook developers are gearing up for a release in early 2027:
“We have poured our hearts into every pixel to deliver a handcrafted project. We can’t wait for January, when we throw open the front doors of Witchbrook College to new students and introduce you to the town of Mossport and its residents. Thank you for all your support and patience, especially over the past year. We took the extra time to craft a game we are truly proud of. We hope you enjoy diving into our magical pixel-art world as much as we enjoyed creating it.”
In Witchbrook, players will be able to attend classes at a magic college and complete assignments in subjects such as alchemy, astrology, potion-making, demon hunting, tarot, and more. By passing exams and earning the required grades, players will unlock additional spells.
Just like in Stardew Valley, players will be able to build relationships with characters, as well as start their own “witch business” and fulfill orders for the locals. Seasonal events, cooking contests, and other activities will also be featured in the game. In addition, the creators are preparing a co-op mode supporting up to 4 players.
You can add Witchbrook to your wishlist on Steam via the following link. If nothing changes again, the release will take place on January 28, 2027. The game will be available not only on PC, but also on consoles — PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox Series X|S (with Xbox One support also announced).
