It was recently reported that 86-year-old actor Patrick Stewart has passed away. He appeared not only in films and TV shows such as “X-Men”, “Logan”, and “Star Trek: The Next Generation”. He also portrayed Emperor Uriel Septim VII in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.
Bethesda Game Studios joined fans remembering Patrick Stewart’s acting work:
In loving memory of Sir Patrick Stewart — emperor, captain, and an inspiration to us all.
Players recalled the story of how the actor prepared for the role of the emperor. Back then, the developers of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion provided Patrick Stewart with a detailed document covering the emperor’s history and traits. According to some reports, the document was about 90 pages long. Meanwhile, the character’s screen time amounted to only about 10 minutes.
At the time, they feared the actor would ignore the information, but Todd Howard shared that the actor was thrilled by the depth of his character. Bethesda Game Studios praised his performance: in a short amount of time, Patrick was able to bring to life a character that some still remember to this day.
