Gennady is released: a crazy platformer in the vein of “Earthworm Jim” from Russian developers

A roguelike platformer has been released where death makes the hero stronger, and the journey leads through the shifting corridors of an alien meat processing plant.

Gennady is a dynamic roguelike platformer with a mad atmosphere, hand-drawn frame-by-frame animation, and battles against chthonic beasts, where death becomes yet another step toward empowering the hero. The full version of the game was released on October 28, 2026.

Players will fight their way through the shifting corridors of an alien meat processing plant filled with vile creatures. To survive, you need to use your own body as a weapon, carving a path through hordes of enemies with furious dashes and melee attacks.

One of the key features of Gennady is its unusual visual style: hand-drawn frame-by-frame animation, a high-contrast black-and-white palette, and pulsating splashes of color create the atmosphere of a dark comic book with a touch of absurdity and classic animation from the era of “Earthworm Jim”.

At the player’s disposal is a rage mode featuring increased speed, deadly attacks, and invulnerability. Using collected currency, you can purchase artifacts and upgrade both the character and weapons. Battles with huge bosses await at the end of each biome.

A dedicated mechanic allows you to carry accumulated artifacts into subsequent runs, gradually empowering the hero. The project has repeatedly taken part in the “NASHY IGRY” showcase by IXBT Games.
