Steam is giving away a 90s Brazil-set horror game where monsters react to light

In late October, Black Hole Games and CriticalLeap launched a new PC promotion on Steam, allowing players to add Asleep: Act 1 to their collection.

The developers describe their project as a psychological horror adventure set in northeastern Brazil during the 1990s. They combine pixel art with fluid animations.

The protagonist of Asleep: Act 1 can use a flashlight to illuminate the surroundings, as well as to lure or evade enemies:

This is the first episode of the story of Ana Lúcia, a lonely and confused girl lost in her nightmares and plunged into a disturbing reality. With little information and a mind flirting with madness, the player must join her to unravel what is happening in her world, collecting clues in her sketchbook and solving puzzles. Armed only with a flashlight to light the way and wits to survive, the player must face enemies always lurking in the dark.

The Steam page for Asleep: Act 1 is available at the following link. Users can add the game to their collection by clicking “Add to Account” — downloading is not required. The game features 25 achievements that count toward profile statistics.
