In early September, Onimusha: Way of the Sword was released on PC and consoles. As usual, Capcom used the infamous Denuvo to protect its new release.
However, 2 months later, the well-known hacker going by the handle voices38 returned and announced a crack of Denuvo in Onimusha: Way of the Sword. This is not a hypervisor-based bypass — he practices “old-school cracking”.
This year, Denuvo’s lawyers launched a hunt for voices38, but this release, as well as the recent crack of two games in the Kimetsu no Yaiba (Demon Slayer) franchise, makes it clear that he has no plans to wind down his activities just yet.
voices38 did not specify which game he plans to crack next.
In Onimusha: Way of the Sword, players step into the shoes of a samurai who possesses a mystical artifact — the Oni Gauntlet, granting powers to destroy the genma:
Show masterful swordplay on a blood-soaked battlefield. Explore Kyoto, the capital of Edo-period Japan shrouded in eerie clouds of Malice. In a dark fantasy story, mysteries, intrigue, and danger await at every turn. Battle the genma — monsters from the underworld!
