Darkwood: Reoccurring Nightmare released — modders restore cut content and rework gameplay mechanics

Players now have a reason to return to Darkwood.

Modder |Totalitarian| recently presented a major project, Darkwood: Reoccurring Nightmare. It restores cut content and reworks various mechanics of the horror title.

It offers players improved dodging, field repairs using toolkits, and the ability to tape a flashlight to a shotgun with duct tape. In addition, players can now upgrade all weapon models.

|Totalitarian| released a launch trailer for the modification:

The modder also refined melee combat and shooting, introduced more convenient weapon switching, made moving light objects faster, and restored cut content (items, weapons, music tracks, locations, and enemies).

|Totalitarian| noted that controller support was fixed. The artificial intelligence was also improved: “from smarter search and pursuit behavior to additional nuances in combat behavior.” In addition, the modder updated game balance and tweaked the enemy spawn system: “there are no longer that many safe places in the world.”

The Darkwood: Reoccurring Nightmare modification is available for free on ModDB.
