Studio Digital Extremes has begun teasing a major update for the free-to-play Warframe. The developers are preparing to release the 67th playable Warframe, as well as introduce the Tau star chart:
Your evolution continues in a new region of space, beyond everything you have ever known — the Tau system. While you still have plenty to do in the Origin System, you will also be able to take part in missions and explore the new worlds of Tau.
The developers released a teaser for the Warframe. Players will be invited to take to the streets of the ring city of Fornax as Brisco — “a world-weary noir detective with an inner monologue voiced by Matt Mercer”:
Brisco also introduces the first item of a new class of premium customizations: the ‘Chimera’ skin. As with protoframes, you will be able to switch on the fly between his Warframe and Chimera forms, granting him Sentient traits and matching voice lines.
In addition, players will be able to visit the wastelands of Perita.
The release of the “Warframe: Tau” update is expected in December 2026. A specific release date for the update has not yet been announced.
