The creators of Dead by Daylight gifted all DLCs to a popular streamer — and had to apologize to players for it

Recently, fans of the multiplayer horror game Dead by Daylight once again lashed out at Behaviour Interactive studio with criticism. This time, the reason was not the release of an unsuccessful add-on or a problematic patch, but the decision of one of the DBD team members to gift previously released downloadable content to a streamer.

During a Twitch broadcast by well-known streamer TheBurntPeanut, who uses an animated peanut avatar, he was granted free access to all DLC characters and perks in Dead by Daylight. The streamer joked that he had received “streamer privileges”.

Many members of the Dead by Daylight community were outraged by such generosity from the developers and began criticizing them. Direct threats against Behaviour Interactive studio staff also began to emerge.

The creators of Dead by Daylight published a statement offering an apology:

This weekend, a Dead by Daylight team member granted in-game content and currency to a content creator who was streaming our game. While we often unlock access to content so that creators who are just getting acquainted with DbD can evaluate what is available in the game, in this case the decision was made without the necessary approvals […] When questions arose during the stream regarding this decision, we should have addressed them rather than brushing them aside.

The developers also noted that “threats to employees are unacceptable under any circumstances”.
