Recently, the Age of the Ring Development Team announced the release of the largest update for the massive modification Age of the Ring 10.0 for the real-time strategy game The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-earth II: The Rise of the Witch-king.
Players are invited to take on the Return of the King campaign, which features 14 new missions. It will serve as the “epic conclusion” to the mod's campaign.
In addition, two alternative factions are available, Dead of Dunharrow and Dead of Dunharrow; several new maps; and dozens of units received new voice acting and models.
The Age of the Ring modification for the RTS The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-earth II: The Rise of the Witch-king is distributed for free via ModDB. Notably, the game itself has officially been out of sale for a long time, but projects like AOTR show that interest in the strategy game persists and fans are ready to make new content for their favorite game.
Some players would like to see a remaster of The Battle for Middle-earth II with official support for user-created mods.
