Thief: The Dark Project Remastered will be released on December 3, 2026, for PC, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, and Xbox Series X|S, featuring updated graphics, 4K support, and frame rates up to 120 frames per second.
Nightdive Studios and Eidos Montréal are behind the remaster of the 1998 classic, with Atari serving as publisher. Pre-orders are already open. The standard edition costs $29.99, while the Digital Deluxe Edition will cost $34.99. The expanded version additionally includes a soundtrack, an artbook, and an excerpt from a novel based on the game.
Players will once again step into the role of Garrett, a thief trained by the mysterious order of the Keepers. Core gameplay will remain focused on stealthy movement, utilizing shadows, and avoiding direct confrontation. Light and sound will continue to play an essential role when exploring locations and bypassing enemies.
The remaster is being built on the KEX engine and will combine the content of Thief: The Dark Project with the expansions from Thief: Gold. The bundle will include three additional missions and new enemy types. The developers will also update models, animations, and graphics, add a new weapon and item selection wheel, as well as the ability to replay completed missions.
Achievements, trophies, and support for user-created campaigns are planned.
