PS5 emulator takes another step forward. Ghost of Yōtei is already running on PC

Ghost of Yōtei has been booted on PC using a PS5 emulator, though even a high-performance computer currently fails to deliver acceptable frame rates.

PS5 emulation on PC continues to evolve. The latest challenge for enthusiasts was Ghost of Yōtei, one of Sony's biggest exclusives. The game was successfully booted using the KyTyPS5 emulator.

The experiment was conducted on a high-performance system powered by an Intel Core i9-13900K processor overclocked to 5.5 GHz, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 Ti Ventus 3X graphics card, and 64 GB of DDR4 RAM running at 4000 MHz. The PC was running Windows 11 Pro.

Despite this setup, Ghost of Yōtei achieved a maximum of around 18 frames per second. However, this is the best-case scenario: during gameplay, performance drops significantly, sometimes down to just a few FPS. Playing comfortably under such conditions is impossible.

Simply running such a demanding title can be considered a notable milestone for PS5 emulation. However, KyTyPS5 is still in an early stage of development, with compatibility and performance remaining major hurdles.

Launching the game does not yet mean it is possible to play it comfortably on PC. Nonetheless, PlayStation exclusives are gradually becoming accessible to emulator developers.
