The protagonist of Robbie MacNiven's novel will be Morrskitt, who, like any self-respecting Grey Seer, is not shy about making grand claims. From wielding peerless sorcerous power to miraculously rescuing the Great Horned Rat itself, many of the legends surrounding this skaven carry more than a hint of exaggeration.

Despite his modest abilities, Morrskitt finds himself drawn into a contest arranged by the fearsome Prophet of the Horned Rat, Vizzik Skour. Vizzik seeks a champion worthy of becoming his herald. The catch? The victor must be the first to capture the immense Sigmarite stronghold of Thundercliff and hoist their screaming bell onto its summit.

What unfolds next is a fast-paced tale packed with backstabbing and skaven intrigue, as Morrskitt and his minions strive to outmanoeuvre the treacherous plots of rival sorcerers and the hidden blades of Clan Eshin assassins.

Along the way, Morrskitt must confront an even more terrifying thought: “What if he truly is the chosen herald of the Horned Rat?” For the most devoted servants of the fifth Chaos God, the novel “Herald of the Horned Rat” will also be released as a special hardback edition — complete with hand-numbered copies, an author's preface, and a striking cover featuring the grinning face of the tailed “hero”.
