Rockstar hasn’t forgotten boxed copy fans: GTA VI will feature an upgrade system

Rockstar Games has provided an option to upgrade the physical edition of GTA VI to the Ultimate Edition by purchasing a digital add-on through the PlayStation or Xbox store.

With less and less time left until the release of the new Grand Theft Auto, players are closely examining the details of various editions and bonus content. Good news for physical media enthusiasts: buying a boxed version will not deprive them of the opportunity to receive bonuses from a more expensive edition.

Inside the physical edition, players will find a special activation code that allows them to download the game and prepare for launch. After registering the base version to a PlayStation or Xbox account, one simply needs to visit the digital store of the respective platform and purchase the upgrade pack to the Ultimate Edition.

This approach will allow players to combine a physical copy with additional digital content. Buyers will not have to forgo the boxed edition for the sake of exclusive bonuses and materials available in the more expensive version. Rockstar has made it possible to freely upgrade to the expanded edition at any time after purchasing the base game. Physical media enthusiasts will be able to put the GTA VI box on their shelf and still enjoy all the benefits of the Ultimate Edition without repurchasing the game.
