Kojima wants to blur the line between cinema and games. PHYSINT star is impressed

Kojima is not just combining cinema and games in PHYSINT: according to Bill Skarsgård, he is inventing his own language for it.

Hideo Kojima wants to create a fundamentally new format of interactive entertainment: according to actor Bill Skarsgård, his next game, PHYSINT, will combine cinematic storytelling, photorealistic graphics, and an entire universe to explore.

Bill Skarsgård, known for his role as Pennywise in the “It” movies and his appearance in “Dune,” spoke about working with Hideo Kojima on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. The actor admitted that he has been a fan of the Japanese game designer’s work since childhood, completed every Metal Gear Solid installment available to him, and has long admired the worlds he creates. Skarsgård particularly appreciates Kojima’s ability to maintain an atmosphere of mystery and build vast universes.

According to the actor, Kojima understands the language of cinema perfectly, even though he remains a video game creator. Skarsgård once asked if he would like to direct a Metal Gear Solid film himself and received a negative answer.

He is an auteur, but a video game auteur. He understands film and cinema thoroughly. At this point, he is just inventing a new medium.

Skarsgård also shared that the team is preparing about eight hours of story material, which will be just one part of the expansive PHYSINT universe.
